Our debut EP now featured on iTunes!

There’s almost nothing better than waking up and finding your album featured prominently on iTunes.  Such was our experience this week as you can see by this screen grab from the “Rock” page in the “New & Noteworthy” section … Look! We’re just 1 slot over from Santana! We can practically smell the patchouli. We’re honored and humbled and totally thrilled by such a feature.  Click on the image to go to our album on iTunes!

Our visit to 94.7FM

Peter and Kevin drop by the 94.7 FM studios in Portland when Peter’s playlist is selected for The Perfect Playlist segment hosted by Gustav.  Not only did Gustav play a Hello Morning track, but he said some very kind words about the band as well.

Deathly afraid of clowns!

Killer clowns, new songs, and an old pirate captain were all spotted at our Jan 12th Doug Fir show where we learned a valuable lesson – Killer clowns are real!

A LITTLE HISTORY BEHIND THE SONG: The words were composed by one of America’s best known poets, Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow on December 25th 1864. The carol was originally a
poem, “Christmas Bells,” containing seven stanzas. Two stanzas were
omitted, which contained references to the American Civil War, thus
giving us the words in its present form. The poem gave birth to the
carol, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and the remaining five
stanzas were slightly rearranged in 1872 by John Baptiste Calkin, who
also gave us the memorable tune. When Longfellow penned the words to
his poem, America was still months away from Lee’s surrender to Grant;
and his poem reflected the prior years of the war’s despair, while
ending with a confident hope of triumphant peace.

There are also a few Youtube diaries we made during the recording
process which you can watch here:

We hope this adds to your enjoyment of the Christmas season.

We truly
do appreciate all of your support!

Peace, goodwill and fruitcakes be unto all of you!

Mixed, mastered and almost pressed!

It’s been a while since our last update, but it’s not due to a lack of activity! A lot of hard work is starting to pay off as we make the final preparations on our debut EP.  In fact, we just finished mixing the album this past week and it’s turning out just as we had hoped.  Sneak peaks will be online as soon as the final masters are complete.

In mixing and producing our EP, we’ve had the pleasure of working with Jeff Stuart Saltzman (whose past credits include Stephen Malkmus, Sleater-Kinney, Death Cab For Cutie, Menomena, and Richmond Fontaine).  When mixing a song, or at least listening to mixes of songs, there are a few factors to consider, such as the mood of the song, lyrics, and what instruments or sounds are most important. However, more basic than that is trying to get each instrument into it’s own sonic space. Next stop is mastering!  Then it’s on to duplication.
